I AM WOMAN, Hear me Roar!!

It’s beginning of April and we are just couple of months away from the dissertation submission day. Lots of tension and concerns in the air what path to choose afterwards. So, if you are in a stage “confused.com” we hope this academic events business industry analysis will help to get you back on track. So if you are interested in going along with events management career, so this section is for you!
Events industry is comparably young and still expanding industry that can be confusing once choosing a particular career in it (Tassiopoulos, 2010). So, let’s narrow it to a particular types of event agencies that might suit a young and professional WOMAN. The major types of events intermediaries are:

-Business Travel agencies-
These are aimed at business clients only. They are the main intermediaries who are sourcing venues for various business events and may contribute to planning and organisation stage (Bowdin, et al, 2011). The employee would take a professional conference organiser’s role and would need to be knowledgeable about meeting management’s principles (Tassiopoulos, 2010).

-Convention and visitor bureaux (CVBs)-
As well known as DMOs (Destination Marketing Organisation) where you would be responsible for “promotion of long-term development and marketing of a destination, focusing on convention sales, tourism marketing and service (Tassiopoulos, 2010, p.79). It promotes hotels, facilities, attractions, restaurants and other providers serving a destination (Bowdin, et al, 2011). It’s better known as tourism boards that are not-for-profit organisations and their aim is to represent a specific region or a city. Those organisations link professionals, travel operators and individual visitors.

-Corporate Hospitality Companies (CHCs)-
Those organisations are aimed at sports and cultural events to help to improve links between the organisation and it’s clients. The job would involve in corporate team building events aimed at clients and employees. It could involve events planning as golf days, off-road driving or paintball games, etc (Tassiopoulos, 2010).

-Events production houses-
It would be more technical job that would involve actual staging of the event- designing, lighting, sound system and special effects. You should own creative and theoretical skills for this job (Tassiopoulos, 2010).

Those are just few options you might have in events and tourism industry. Either you are more technical or organisational or promotional lady choice is yours!
Good Luck with choosing your destiny!
